Is it possible that the so-called "disappearance" of the ancient Mayan People could have been their final message for the rest of the World as to how to survive the end of a civilization... or even the End of the World?
It is common knowledge that Mayan civilization seems to have "vanished" between the 8th and 9th centuries AD. However, historians and archeologists have yet to conclusively determine the reason the Maya choose to abandon their sacred sites and metropolitan cities.
Wikipedia on the Mayan Civilization's Collapse
Three different theories have been put forward to explain the Mayan Collapse:
-
systemic ecological collapse — the Maya over-exploited the land and caused environmental problems for themselves;
-
political/warfare — a cultural theory holding that the elite fought too much and provided poor leadership; and
-
drought caused by climate change.
I would like to propose a 4th theory: The Maya purposely abandoned their metropolitan areas due to prophetic understanding of the future and how best to survive political and natural disasters.
We have been indoctrinated since infancy to believe that high civilization is synonymous with large organized cities, trade routes covering vast regions, and technological solutions to the "problems" of everyday living. Very few societies on Earth today teach that "civilization" could be anything other than this.
Perhaps the Maya discovered a better, safer, and more sustainable way of living, and that is why they appear to have "disappeared."
Modern society is facing problems of a magnitude never before seen: total environmental degeneration and failure, political chaos due to massive systemic corruption among "world leadership", economic exploitation to the point of creating a new class of slavery, and more.
It can be argued that each and every one of the of the planet-threatening problems we face today are the direct result of the "civilization" we have created - and more specifically the way our civilization's power is structured.
Our self-destructing civilization is structured around Centralized Power and decision making.
Decisions made by a very small group of powerful individuals effect increasingly larger and larger numbers of others.
Civil rights decisions, regulatory decisions, business and commerce decisions, environmental decisions, political decisions... the most important decisions that effect all of humanity and even Planet Earth Itself are made by this incredibly small group. And of course, each one of these "decision makers" has massive personal vested interest in the decisions they are making... vested interests that contribute to their "bottom-line profits" and their individual influence and power in the World at large.
Additionally, this "small group" becomes smaller and smaller as the "elite" buyout competition, join forces with one another, and block the advancement of individuals or technology which could compromise their status.
This is how our "high civilization" is structured. It is clearly broken and it is destroying the Planet and Human Lives.
Perhaps the Maya experienced the same phenomena?
The structure of Centralized Power dooms every society that embraces it to reach a point of massive systemic corruption. Centralized Power guarantees this!
Whether it is an elite priest-class, a governing class of any sort, or an advantaged economic class, corruption of power must occur at a certain point in the evolution of a Centralized Power scheme.
It is not that "people are inherently bad"... it is that some people are inherently bad.
It takes only a few evil men working in cooperation over a period of time to drive the "good" people out of positions of real power... then the structure of Centralized Power provides the apparatus for those who have seized control to force all of society to work for their interests alone...
However, let us put aside the reality of systemic corruption within Centralized Power structures, and let us assume that evil has not entered into the decision making process.
We will assume that everyone making decisions has only the best intentions.
There exists another massive problem with centralized power.
No matter how you slice it... Centralized Power depends on a small number of people making decisions that effect a large number of people.
The problem is that it is impossible for any small group, no matter how well informed, to have all the necessary information to make right decisions.
This point can be quickly proven - Take a look around! Has the track record of Centralized Power's decision making been good for the World? Do you feel that government and industry regularly make decisions that clearly benefit the Public Welfare? How often do you ask yourself: "How could they be so stupid?"
If they are not 99%+ corrupt (unlikely) then they clearly do not have the proper information to make decisions - Their decisions prove it!
Okay... so what about the Maya and 2012?
Sorry... One more quick diversion...
Thomas Jefferson is known to have envisioned a future America in which every citizen lived on and owned a large plot of land, upon which he/she could grow enough food to sustain themselves and their families.
Living in this manner guarantees individual freedom and fosters a strong sense of empowerment. A man who "owns his own life" is extremely difficult to abuse in any fashion and will never subject himself to any sort of servitude - whether the servitude be to the State or any other man.
Since the beginning of America, Jefferson's ideal has been quashed by those who would usurp power for themselves - the architects of the Centralized Power existent in the U.S.A. today.
The Mayan "achievement" of Centralized Power sowed the seeds of the Mayan Realization of Centralized Power's Danger...
I believe the Maya came to witness their centralized power structure become more and more powerful, and serve the general public less and less.
The Mayan's centralized power structure may have pressured the Maya into poor decision making... decisions regarding the best use of agricultural resources, politics and war, and other important matters.
I propose that an advanced civilization such as the Maya's can come to understand the Undermining and Anti-Human nature of Centralized Power... and that a truly advanced civilization will take the only action possible to solve this problem - abandon centralized power and become self-sustaining in small self-governed communities.
The evidence shows that this is exactly what the Maya did!
Archeologists tell us that the Mayan people suddenly left their cities and dispersed into the jungle, henceforth living out their lives in small self-sustaining communities.
The Maya continue to live this way TODAY!
The Mayan Formula for Civilization's Survival
The Mayan's calendar ends on December 21st, 2012.
The Teachings of the Maya state that on Winter Solstice 12/21/2012 our current World will come to an end. Additionally, Mayan Tradition states that a New World begins on this day.
Many have suggested that the Mayan "End of the World" in 2012 marks the end of our current way of living... not a physical destruction of the Planet and Humanity.
Perhaps we should follow the Mayan People's example of how to survive the Disintegration of a Broken Civilization.
Perhaps we should realize the Vision of Thomas Jefferson, one of the foremost advocates of human freedom and one of the primary Founders of America, and begin to live in a manner unaffected by any Anti-Human Centralized Power Structure.
Perhaps the final message given to us by the Maya and their Formula for Surviving the Changes of 2012 is: Escape from the influence of Centralized Power, reclaim Individual Human Sovereignty, Enjoy Freedom and Truly Living!

I had never experienced what I experienced I know I wasnt sleeping but at the same time was it a Vision. I don't know. The story is long so I will get to the point. I had an experience where I traveled in time two places first was The Time of Noah and the secong time was I have no clue but I would say mayan era because as I looked on I had this disticnt feeling of latin America and Mayan to long to explain. But what I saw was a society almost looked like if I was in a conjested area that looked like an Italian style look anyways I looked and I saw what looked like a Mayan temple and in an instant I saw a Bright Ball of Light it was centralized and I saw it send out a burst of Light but ahead of it looked like a shockwave but i can see it. it happened so quick and I felt as if it destroyed the existance of everyone. At the end of my experince the words you were born for a time such as this meaning today long dream so many more details but I just wanted to share that part with you mayan folks. Dream/Vision a couple weeks ago
I am a little freaked out by all of this... and it only started a couple weeks ago when I had a dream too. What is scary is I had a dream where there was a bright light that also destroyed existence... except for a chosen group. I was an observer and didn't know anyone in the dream... And, whats weird is I can't even really put the dream in pictures, but in a series of just events that I thoroughly understood as the observer. There were other beings and a lot of people chased after the UFOs/beings, then there was just one big bright light that wiped them all out. The people that remained that I observed were sitting at a table together as if they knew what was about to happen and were told beforehand to stay there... like they were some of the chosen. What's weird is I usually know the people in my dreams and I didn't know anyone in this dream. And... not going to lie when I say I'm on edge right now after reading the VisitorfromMichigan's post... It's a strange fear I haven't had since I was a kid, scared of the dark after a scary movie.
Since that dream, I've been reading a lot about this whole thing and I'm not the kind of person who worries about these things and am almost embarrassed to talk about it... but, I've had this fear ever since... as if I need to do something or just be "ready" per say spiritually, if that makes any sense.
Freaked out and trying hard to slap myself in the face and pull myself back into the superficial, materialistic, world of blissful ignorance.
You are not crazy. No need to
You are not crazy. No need to fear. Live Well. Love Unconditionally. Give freely. Poor and Loved or Rich and Hated? Does not apply to all, but seems to be a generally consensuses. We are not supposed to know what happens. Few may have warning. The only thing we can do is keep living, don't be a jerk, and enjoy the time we have. You could die tomorrow... or you could be alive for another 100 years... No one knows. But do we live in fear of dieing tomorrow? Most do not even think about it. Who's to say you will even be around when this next event occurs? We can hope. But all we can do is be good to each other and keep living. Why? Because, right now; we still can. Ever heard the phrase "kill them with kindness"? It's a good rule to live by. Not in a malicious way tho. If someone wrongs you, move on and keep living. It only makes you as bad as they are to retaliate. Who cares? Jerks always get theirs in the end. Be true to yourself. Just enjoy living. It may sound crazy, but stop being so worries about the worldly ways we were taught to know. It's full of corruption and breeds hate. Separate yourself from the negative and merely live in the positive. It's easier than it sounds. Give it a try and give it some time to fully set in. Life is glorious and beautiful and usually scoffed at as a punishment if one is not treated like royalty. Stop feeding into those who suffer from what I call "the god complex". They feel the world owes them everything. Don't fall into this spoiled thinking. Live pure. You know right from wrong. Your choices make the difference. May peace be with you all of your days. May you be blessed to enjoy the world the way it was meant to be lived in.
